The Cologne tennis pro Andreas Mies was eliminated in Wimbledon. He failed in the doubles competition with his French partner Fabrice Martin in the second round.
The two lost to Ariel Behar and Adam Pavlasek (Uruguay/Czech Republic) 6:7 (3:7) and 1:6 on Monday and thus missed the round of 16.
Last year, Mies and his long-term partner Kevin Krawietz (Coburg), with whom he had won the French Open twice, reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam tournament in London, against the eventual finalists Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic (Croatia) terminus was.
Three semi-finals for Mies with three partners
After separating from Kravietz last year, who has been playing with Tim Pütz (Frankfurt/Main) since then, Mies has competed in tournaments with various partners, most recently with the semi-finals in Halle (Marcelo Demoliner/Brazil) and before that at the French Open (Matwe Middelkoop/Netherlands) celebrated successes.
Mies had already competed with the Frenchman Martin at the ATP Masters in Monte Carlo in April, where the two also only failed in the semifinals to Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek (Croatia / USA).
Incidentally, Krawietz and Pütz made it into the round of 16 in London. They benefited from the injury-related retirement of the Norwegian Casper Ruud, who was unable to play the game planned for Sunday with his doubles partner Willian Blumberg from the USA due to a shoulder problem.
