Complaints from landlords are often simply ignored. Rents are rising, but service is not. This is a great burden for many.

Heating, hot water or elevator don’t work: All too often, helpless tenants contact the BZ who can’t get any further with their landlords. They reported the damage to them, but nothing happened.

The clerk hangs up annoyed. Only the answering machine listens patiently to the complaints. Emails are not responded to.

Rents are constantly rising, but service is not. Tenants’ rights are too often ignored. Many people are afraid of losing their homes if they express criticism. Property managers should take their social obligations seriously.

I am all the more pleased that the tenants on Severingstrasse will have their rent waived 100 percent according to the BZ article and will finally be given heating radiators.
