October 26 – 7.29pm – MILAN

Lamborghini celebrates, on the occasion of Vintage Cars and Motorcycles running from 23rd to 26th October at the Bologna Fairthe ten years that have passed since his birth Historical Center and, at the same time, announces for 2026 the intention to worthily celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the launch of the Miura in March 1966 with a tour that is still being defined.

valuable example

The anniversary was celebrated at the Polo Storico stand at the Emilian event, which hosts a car of great value. In 1963 Lamborghini Automobili had presented the 350 GTV at the Turin Motor Showthe first car actually built by Ferruccio Lamborghini; in the following year, at the Geneva Motor Show, it is the turn of the 350 GTin Geneva Green color, bearing the chassis number 0101. The 350 GT exhibited in Bologna, gray in colour, is instead characterized by the chassis number 0102therefore it constitutes the first car actually sold and delivered to a private customer by Lamborghini. A sort of “number one”, perfectly restored and characterized by some differences compared to subsequent series examples (for example, the steering wheel was of a different type and the prototype logo was double coloured, black and white, used before the brand took on its current form, with the golden bull on a black background); today the car belongs to a Swiss collectora loyal customer of the Casa di Sant’Agata Bolognese, who loves to use it at gatherings and celebratory events.

author’s drawing

The rare example of the 350 GT is framed by an equally important drawing, considered the oldest among those present in the Lamborghini Archive: it is a printout of the original transparency in 1:1 scaleon which indications and drawings handmade at the time of the construction of these cars appear. Examining the large table, protected by glass, one notices the habitability studies conducted in view of the construction of the 400 GT, which will be presented in 1966. While the 350 GT was a two-seater coupé, except for a very small number of chassis made in a 2+1 configuration, the 400 GT would be born in the 2+2 version. The drawing was created by Touring Superleggera bodyworkwhich collaborated closely with Lamborghini before the latter relied on Bertone. THE 350 GT was equipped with a 3.5 liter V12which made it one of the best performing grand tourers of its era.

restorations and certifications

It is almost useless to underline how this prestigious example enjoys the widest certification by the Polo Storico Lamborghini, whose responsibility today falls within the competence of Giuliano Cassataro, Head of After Sales of the Sant’Agata Bolognese company. This structure has three types of archives, to which a fourth with a particular flavor is added. The first archive contains all vehicle data sheets starting from the 350 GT up to the latest version of the Diablo, which at the moment is the latest model to be the subject of the attention of this Lamborghini department; the second collection consists of the commercial archivewhich contains all documents, photos, invoices, correspondence with dealers and customers. A precious resource for reconstructing the history of each car after its production and delivery by the company to the buyer. The third archive available to the Historical Center is the technical one and contains drawings, diagrams and transparencies relating to the cars produced. Finally, there is a fourth typology of “archive” sui generis, consisting of active collaboration of former Lamborghini employeesinvaluable sources that allow us to fill in with live testimonies any gaps in the documentation with personal knowledge relating, for example, to electrical components, mechanical ones, up to the engines and the approval procedures of the time. TAll this allows the Polo Storico to certify the originality and characteristics of vintage Lamborghinis – limiting the scope from the origins to the Diablo – examining the cars at its headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese or relying on dealers present all over the world. In ten years, the documents issued, complete with a book showing all the steps and checks carried out in approximately three-four months of checks, there were over 200. The atelier also takes care of restoring customers’ cars, an operation that can take up to 24-36 months: in ten years a total of fifty and six are still ongoingfive of which concern examples of the Miura and one relating to an Espada.

happy birthday Miura!

In 2026 the legendary Miura turns sixty: Lamborghini indeed exhibited the P400 Miura at the 1966 Geneva Motor Showalluding in the acronym to the rear position of the engine, which at the time was still uncommon on road super sports cars, and to the 4-litre displacement of its powerful 12-cylinder. Its success went beyond expectations, so much so that, in the end, official Lamborghini numbers speak of 265 P400 Miura produced between 1966 and ’68, 338 P400 Miura S between ’69 and ’71 and 150 Miura SV between ’71 and ’73. Added to these are some special examples, such as the four SVJs derived from the Miura Jota prototype and the only Miura Spyder made by Bertone. The anniversary of the Miura will be celebrated next year with the organization by Lamborghini of an exclusive touralong the lines of what, in 2023, celebrated sixty years since the foundation of the House.
