If it is up to the Public Prosecution Service, the suspect of the shooting to death of 22-year-old Lau from Assendelft will go to prison for ten years and will also be sentenced to tbs with compulsory treatment. The victim’s body was found eighteen months ago in a ditch in Amsterdam Nieuw-West.
The case was heard in court today. According to the Public Prosecution Service, Lau was shot dead in the cabin of a co-defendant’s van after a conflict. His body was eventually put in Geuzenveld abandoned. Because there were traces of blood in the van, the van was later set on fire.

The 29-year-old suspect confirmed that he pulled the trigger, but said it was an accident and that he was unaware that the weapon was loaded. The Public Prosecution Service does not believe this, partly because he only made the statement after a very long time.
“The main suspect has fired a firearm into his mouth. And why? A joke? This is incomprehensible to the relatives,” said the public prosecutor during the session. “Their grief is immeasurable and beyond words. They will have to live on without their beloved son, grandson, brother and friend, but with a permanent hole in their existence.”

According to the Public Prosecution Service two co-defendants, a 21-year-old man from Krommenie and a 22-year-old man from Assendelft, placed the body in the ditch together with the main suspect. The public prosecutor called this “horrific, degrading and perhaps even more incomprehensible for the relatives”.
The two co-defendants demanded eighteen months in prison minus pre-trial detention.
