Luc Kenter is the new, temporary chairman of the GGzE in Eindhoven. A member of the Supervisory Board has also been replaced. In this way, there finally seems to be some peace in the administrative crisis at GGzE. But that does not solve all the problems at the psychiatric institution.
After the severe management crisis at GGzE in Eindhoven, it was decided on 25 August by the Enterprise Chamber that the Supervisory Board, the client council and the works council of the GGzE had to find a new, temporary director. Almost three weeks later, it worked.
Luc Kenter has been appointed by the Supervisory Board as new, temporary chairman of the Board of Directors. According to the GGzE, the Oirschotse Kenter is an experienced care manager. “Over the past twenty years, he has worked as a director in various large healthcare organizations and for commercial organizations,” writes the GGzE.
In addition, Job van der Have has been appointed by the Executive Board as temporary chairman of the Supervisory Board. Van der Have is more often appointed by the Enterprise Chamber as a temporary and independent supervisor and director in difficult cases.
Don’t storm over
It seems that there is finally peace in the tent, but the storm is not quite over yet. In addition to the administrative crisis, there is also a problem with the psychiatry training within GGzE. The training has been suspended following complaints from doctors in training. There would be an unsafe learning climate.
At the end of this week it will be determined whether the suspension is final. According to experts, if the suspension is not reversed, the GGzE will have a huge problem. This would mean that about 20 to 25 doctors who want to become psychiatrists would have to leave by January 1, 2023.
Because the psychiatric institution was out of control for almost a month and because of the problems that arise in the psychiatry training, the GGzE is now under active supervision of the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate (IGJ).
Difficult task
For Kenter and van der Have, therefore, the difficult task of guiding the GGzE through these crises. “Luc Kenter and Job van der Have have the assignment to do everything necessary to restore peace, mutual trust and cooperation within GGzE”, according to the GGzE. Kenter also takes care of the headache file of the temporarily suspended psychiatry training.
Kenter and van der Have must also look for a new Executive Board and three new members for the Supervisory Board as soon as possible as of January 1, 2023.
