The municipality of Meppel has removed the temporary cameras in Touwstraat and Woldstraat. The municipality hung up a few weeks ago after three burglaries had been committed in the center in a short time.

“Since hanging the temporary cameras, there have been no more incidents,” the municipality said in a response. That is why the municipality will again hang cameras in the city center at the wishes of entrepreneurs. This time not temporary, but permanent.

Hanging those cameras does entail the necessary costs and is said to cost between 100,000 and 200,000 euros. In addition, the municipality expects to spend another 35,000 euros on server rooms and contracts.
