Telstar swings to an easy victory against strengthened Jong Ajax

Telstar achieved a resounding victory when visiting Jong Ajax. Goals from Danzell Gravenberch, Tim van de Loo and Youssef El Kachati made it 0-3. The Amsterdam youngsters had several players from the first team in the starting line-up, but that made no difference.

Tom Overtoom and Danny Bakker were missing from Telstar, while Jong Ajax started the North Holland derby with a very reinforced starting team. Ar’Jany Martha, Silvano Vos, Julian Rijkhoff and Kian Fitz-Jim, among others, kicked off. The first chance for the young Ajax players was not surprising; Fitz-Jim sent Axel Dongen’s Ammouricho deep. However, the attacker found goalkeeper Ronald Koeman Jr. on his way. It turned out to be the home team’s only big chance in the first half.

It was Telstar that then took the lead. The opening goal was scored after a questionable foul by Nick Verschuren on Danzell Gravenberch. The striker dropped into the box and then converted the penalty himself: 0-1. Tim van de Loo scored the second goal. He tapped the ball in from close range after a shot by Thomas Oude Kotte. The lead was an unprecedented luxury for the White Lions.

It took a long time before there was a bit of a revival in the second half, but that patience was brilliantly rewarded. Youssef El Kachati (he has been in excellent form in recent weeks) defeated Thom de Graaff from the halfway line: 0-3. Moments earlier, a bet from David Kalokoh was easily picked up by Koeman. The brilliant goal officially decided the match in Telstar’s favor.

Young Ajax tried to change the score, but that was no longer possible. That’s why we left the White Lions with a resounding victory from Amsterdam. Thanks to the three-pointer, Telstar rises to shared seventeenth place in the rankings in the first division. Jong FC Utrecht and TOP Oss are also in that position with 23 points. Jong Ajax occupies fifteenth place with 30 points.

ADO Den Haag is the next opponent next Friday, while Telstar will face Roda JC at home. Both matches start at 8 p.m.
