Telstar surprises ADO Den Haag and finally takes the first point

After seven games, Telstar is off the hateful zero in the first division. It ended 1-1 when visiting ADO Den Haag. Mees Kaandorp scored the only goal for the Witte Leeuwen. Henk Veerman scored for ADO.

Telstar took off in the difficult away match against ADO Den Haag. First Zakaria Eddahchouri found Mees Kaandorp, but he could not take advantage of that opportunity. The same also applied to Jayden Turfkruier a few minutes later. ADO then took over the initiative. For example, Daryl van Mieghem twice gave an identical cross to Joel Ideho. In both cases, goalkeeper Joey Houweling was well positioned and it did not yield anything for the home team. Ideho was responsible for the opening goal.

The quick attacker gave the ball to Volendammer Henk Veerman and he scored: 1-0. The FC Volendam loanee scored for the third game in a row. He had already missed a great opportunity due to Joey Houweling. ADO remained the most dangerous team in the remainder of the first half. Dhoraso Klas tried to outwit Houweling, but the goalkeeper kept his team going at this stage.

The game pattern hardly seemed to change in the second half. The biggest opportunities were for ADO and the equalizer was in the air. This was further reinforced by a shot from Veerman, which ended up on the post. However, completely against the odds, Telstar came on level with ADO. Eddahchouri escaped the defense and scored to Kaandorp: 1-1. The Hagenezen thought they would take the lead again via Ideho, but he again found Houweling in his way.

The score did not change – despite opportunities for both teams. Telstar thus took the lead when it visited ADO. The Velsen residents remain last in the first division, as Jong Ajax only plays on Monday. The Amsterdam youngsters will be Telstar’s opponent in a week.

Telstar setup: Pickaxe; Polley, Apau, Soares, Oude Kotte, Peat Cruiser; Augustijns, Overtoom, Plat (Seedorf/79), Kaandorp (Van de Loo/70); Eddahchouri (Gravenberch/79)
