The last time Ajax and Telstar played against each other was in the KNVB Cup last season. In the second round of the cup tournament, the Amsterdammers won 2-0 against Telstar.
Telstar had asked the KNVB to start with an away game. This is because a turf is currently being installed in the Telstar Stadium.
