Telstar goes under during a rainy NAC evening

Telstar was unable to achieve results when visiting NAC Breda. Zakaria Eddahchouri scored the opening goal, but then things went completely wrong: 3-1. Sebbe Augustijns did not make it to the end by taking two yellow cards.

Zakaria Eddahchouri gave Telstar the lead in the opening phase (just like last week against MVV). The striker shot beautifully from a wide distance behind goalkeeper Tein Troost: 0-1. Danzell Gravenberch, his comrade in attack, also became dangerous. Only without success. NAC came to the same level almost out of nowhere. Mitch Apau made hands (in the eyes of referee Nick Smit) after a cross from Victor Wernersson. Dominik Janosek then scored: 1-1.

The lively opening phase in Breda was barely followed in the remaining minutes of the first half. Tom Overtoom shot over from a free kick, while Boy Kemper aimed the ball just wide of goalie Joey Houweling’s goal from a distance. The few chances lead to dissatisfaction in the stands, causing the NAC players to receive a whistle concert.

After halftime, Houweling kept his team on their feet twice. He was able to save Sigurd Haugen’s effort and the same applied to Clint Leemans’ chance. Three times it turned out to be a charm for NAC. Matthew Garbett was the final station of an attack: 2-1. Things went from bad to worse after this, as the score was 3-1 in no time. Tom Boere nodded in a cross from Janosek.

Danny Bakker (former NAC) had made his debut shortly before and started his period at Telstar with a cold shower. Sebbe Augustijns was allowed to take a shower earlier after he received his second yellow card. It then became an almost impossible task for Telstar to achieve a result and it was time to play it out. That worked and it remained 3-1 for the home team.

Eighteenth place remains for the White Lions. TOP Oss is Telstar’s opponent in Velsen-Zuid next week. You can of course follow that match live via NH Radio.

Telstar setup: Pickaxe; Seedorf (Van de Loo/70), Apau, Soares, Koswal (Bakker/69), Peat Porter (Boussakou/76); Augustijns, Overtoom (Van den Heerik/76), Plat; Gravenberch (Bouyaghlafen/82), Eddahchouri
