Telstar drops to penultimate place due to home defeat against Jong Utrecht

The last home game of the season turned out to be a disappointment for Telstar. Young FC Utrecht won 3-1 in Velsen-Zuid thanks to two goals in the last ten minutes. Due to the loss, the White Lions drop to last place.

It was quickly hit for the Utrechters. Özgür Aktas was easily put aside by Mees Rijks, after which Derensili Sanches Fernandes scored. At that time, seven minutes had been played at Sportpark Schoonenberg.

Equalizer turns out to be worth nothing

Telstar struggled to make a fist against Jong Utrecht. It seemed to stay at 0-1 for a long time, but ten minutes before the end Rashaan Fernandes was suddenly there. The attacker who leaves for Go Ahead Eagles hit the rebound after a good header from substitute Gyliano van Velzen. Andries Jonker’s team might have wanted three points, but the goals fell on the other side.

Mohamed Mallahi and Oussama Alou scored the goals in the 84th and 87th minutes. Telstar’s resistance was thus broken. With one game to go, the Velsenaren have dropped to nineteenth place. Helmond Sport is at the bottom and has already secured the red lantern this season. With a victory number six Roda JC, Telstar can still finish in sixteenth place.
