Telstar director about dismissal of trainer Mike Snoei: “This was inevitable”

Telstar’s dramatic form has cost trainer Mike Snoei his head. The team from Velsen-Zuid is last in the first division. “The low point was last Friday evening (6-1 loss against MVV, ed.), where it seemed like loose sand,” said general manager of Telstar Leon Annokkée.

“I spoke to Mike this morning and his resignation came as a disappointment to him,” Annokkée continues. “Mike had hoped for something different and of course we did too, but this is the reality. We add up all the pluses and minuses and think this is the best choice. We have difficulty scoring and you saw in the last matches among the players that it was It was difficult to remain combative. Telstar is also not known for just sending out a trainer.”

Metgod

The last time Telstar said goodbye to a trainer early was in 2010. Edward Metgod was dismissed after fourteen competition defeats in 25 matches. “Of course it is a difficult choice that we have made. Mike is extremely committed to the club and he achieved a great performance last year by finishing ninth in the competition.”

“It is not an option for Correia to finish the season as Telstar’s trainer”

general manager of Telstar Leon Annokkee

Assistant coaches Anthony Correia and Uli Landvreugd both have the necessary papers to become head coach. However, the former is head coach at second division team Katwijk and Annokkée announces that Correia will not complete the season as head coach of Telstar this season. “Correia has agreements with Katwijk and we respect them.”

Annokkée is also not ruling out an outside trainer. “As far as I’m concerned, everything is open. It’s mainly about what the current staff and group of players want, because they too will have to look in the mirror and realize that things really have to be different. Correia and Landvreugd will work together on Friday against Helmond. Sports. We will see what happens next.”
