Telstar cup-under against ADO Den Haag after weak second half

Telstar has done bad business in the battle for the play-offs. On a visit to competitor ADO Den Haag, the start was still good, but the lead was given away in the second half. That made it 3-1.

The road to Telstar’s 55 points started tonight against ADO in The Hague. An interesting game, as both teams are still fully involved in the battle for the play-offs. After a number of pinpricks, Telstar took the lead after 24 minutes. After a free kick, the ball stuck on the edge of sixteen. David Min didn’t wait and hit hard: 0-1. Goalkeeper Ronald Koeman Jr. then made a good save on a header from Thomas Verheydt.

Delvechio Blackson came on in the second half. The Surinamese defender did not make any minutes with the national team, but did play his fiftieth league match for Telstar. It did not bring the desired effect, because ADO quickly leveled the score. Titouan Thomas shot a free kick behind Koeman: 1-1. The White Lions had barely recovered from the shock when Joel Zwarts shot the ball on the post.

The visitors did not get any further than a shot wide of ADO’s goal. It went completely wrong for Telstar in the final phase. Xander Severina took off and was knocked out by Koeman in the box. The goalkeeper got a yellow card and Verheydt converted the penalty: 2-1. Telstar was quite excited, because a minute later the 3-1 was also in the goal. Severina was now the creator.

Due to the defeat, ADO has one point less than Telstar. They remain in the left row. Jong Ajax is the next opponent of the next week White Lions.
