There were three new test players at Telstar at the kick-off. Cain Seedorf (ADO Den Haag), Thomas Oude Kotte (Excelsior, among others) and Mitch Apau (FC Emmen) played their first minutes as White Lion against Cambuur. The Velsenaren had a very difficult time in the first half. A free kick by Anwar Bensabouh created the necessary danger, as did a shot by Ozan Kökcü.

Merciless

Furthermore, it was mainly Cambuur that struck the clock. Roberts Uldriķis shot at the post, Telstar managed to get away. Just before half time, the Frisians struck mercilessly through two quick goals from Milan Smit within two minutes.

Telstar immediately asserted itself after the break, because test player Byron Burgering scored the connecting goal: 2-1. In the counterpunch, a bet by David Sambissa hit the post. Hereafter, both teams tried to score more goals, but that was not the case.

Sensation

Goal scorer Burgering said afterwards that he was happy with his goal. The wing attacker scored fifteen goals for GVVV last season and prepared eight goals. Despite this, GVVV was relegated from the second division. The 21-year-old Burgering now hopes to win a contract with Telstar.

Mitch Apau

After the game, trainer Mike Snoei announced in front of the NH Sport camera that the club had succeeded in capturing Mitch Apau. The 32-year-old defender was born in Amsterdam and played in youth for Zeeburgia and Ajax, among others. Last season Apau played nineteen games for FC Emmen and became champion of the first division with that club.

Next Tuesday, Spakenburg will be Telstar’s next opponent in the preparation. The kick-off is at 20:00. Telstar previously won against Stormvogels, IJmuiden and FC Lisse. The practice matches against Willem II and Excelsior Maassluis did not yield any profit.
