Telephony in the Telekom mobile network is currently disrupted

There are currently impairments in the mobile network of Deutsche Telekom. Both calls via the LTE network and the sending of SMS are affected.

Mobile phone reception in the Telekom network is currently disrupted. This affects both the provider itself and providers who implement their services via their network. Since noon today, reports have been piling up on pages like “allfaults“. Telekom itself has now confirmed the disruption via Twitter.

Telekom LTE network disrupted

The LTE network throughout Germany is affected. The disruption means that currently incoming and outgoing mobile phone calls via LTE (VoLTE) are impaired. However, there can also be problems with sending SMS and calling up the mobile box. Due to the disruption, Telekom refers to the GSM network. Calls are therefore possible here without restrictions. However, individual users also report problems with telephony in the 2G network. TECHBOOK itself could not understand this. In our test in Berlin, calls via VoLTE did not work, but we were able to make calls via GSM.

This is where you will find content from Twitter

In order to interact with or display content from social networks, we need your consent.

For this reason, users who use the Telekom network should log into the GSM network for the duration of the disruption. This can be done in the smartphone settings under “Mobile network” and “Preferred network type”.

Telekom is currently working flat out to eliminate the fault. However, it is not known how long the problems with telephony in the LTE network will continue. We have asked Telekom about this and are waiting for a statement. TECHBOOK will inform you here as soon as there is an update.
