Telekom MagentaZuhause now available as flexible tariffs that can be canceled on a monthly basis

Deutsche Telekom has activated a small but important change for its in-house Internet tariffs. It gives customers with (V)DSL or fiber optic connections more flexibility. But they also have to forego some advantages.

The MagentaZuhause offers can now also be booked as a flexible version that can be canceled on a monthly basis. Telekom is thus expanding the range of tariffs that were previously available, which have a minimum term of 24 months. However, if you opt for the Flex version, you have to do without some extras. TECHBOOK editor Rita Deutschbein summarizes the changes.

Telekom does not offer all MagentaZuhause tariffs as a Flex version

The option to book the MagentaZuhause tariffs without a term is now available to Telekom customers. However, the provider only offers this for three of its four tariffs. The MagentaZuhause S with 16 Mbit/s is therefore only available with a two-year contract. The tariffs MagentaZuhause M with 50 Mbit/s, MagentaZuhause L with 100 Mbit/s and MagentaZuhause XL with 250 Mbit/s are different. Here, customers have the choice between the monthly terminable option and the variant with a minimum term of 24 months. In addition, these three tariffs can be booked for the (V)DSL connection (copper) or fiber optic connection.

The rough key data of the Flex and the runtime version of the MagentaZuhause tariffs from Telekom are identical. However, the price advantage that Telekom grants does not apply to the monthly cancellable tariffs. Within the first six months of the contract, all term tariffs only cost 19.95 euros per month. The network operator only calculates the regular basic fee for the respective offer from the seventh month.

The MagentaZuhause M Flex costs EUR 42.95 from the first month. The MagentaZuhause L Flex from Telekom, on the other hand, costs 47.95 euros. The MagentaZuhause XL Flex is the most expensive at EUR 54.95 per month, but it also offers the fastest maximum speed of 250 Mbit/s.

If customers also use the Flex tariffs for at least 24 months, they have to dig much deeper into their pockets. The additional costs due to the omission of the credit amount to 138 to 210 euros within the first six months. In addition, Telekom charges one-time connection costs of a whopping EUR 69.95 for the MagentaZuhause Flex, provided that it is not a matter of a change of tariff or provider, but of a new connection. For comparison: With O2 and Vodafone the connection costs are 49.99 euros, with 1&1 they are 49.95 euros for DSL connections and 69.95 euros for fiber optic connections.

Customers who also book a mobile phone connection with Telekom at the same time as MagentaZuhause (Flex) receive a small price advantage. In the bundle, you then save 5 euros per month and also receive twice the mobile data volume.
