Swedish pole vault star Armand Duplantis praise Teemu Selänetta.
The two met in the last week of August in Crans-Montana, USA. Agent of Duplantis Daniel Wessfeldt told Expressen that the pole vaulter SE man and Selänne participated in a golf tournament organized by a common sponsor, the Swiss watch manufacturer Omega.
After the competition, Selänne and Duplantis spent the evening together. Spouses were present Shirpa Back and Desiré Englander.
The hockey legend made an impression on the Swede.
– He is a really cool guy. If you didn’t know that he is one of the best scorers in NHL history, you would never guess it.
Selänne published a picture of the group in the Stories section of her Instagram account. In the shot, the four are smiling widely.
The picture was visible only 24 hours after it was published.

In his career, Selänne scored a total of 684 goals in 1,451 NHL games. He is ranked 12th in the all-time goalscoring record.
Duplantis was impressed by Suomalaistähti’s hospitality.
– He is a relaxed guy who just wants to take it easy, hang out and eat steak. Teemu was super kind and welcomed us. It’s great to meet a person who inspires you. He’s a fair fellow.
Duplantis is the reigning pole vault world record holder. He improved his ME to 621 at the World Championships in Eugene.

Duplantis and Inglander participated in the Sweden match organized in Helsinki at the weekend. The ME man didn’t jump from the stick because of the tight schedule of the Diamond League, but worked as a flag man on Saturday and represented at various events.
The superstar who grew up in Louisiana, USA, was shocked when the thermometer showed only thirteen plus degrees in the evening in Helsinki.
– Finns are tough when they survive the cold weather. It’s still summer, but it doesn’t feel like it. Like it or not, fall is here. It almost feels like winter.
– There are great people in Finland. There is always a friendly atmosphere here. The culture is beautiful.
Inglander tours the games with Duplantis a lot. Helsinki was not a new city, as he has Finnish roots.
– My father’s mother is from Finland. Finland is very similar to Sweden, he said with a smile.
