Teemu Pukki received an offer from Turkey

Samsunspor, which has been promoted to the Turkish premier league Super Liiga for the coming season, has made an official contract offer to Teemu Puk, reports the Turkish media Ajansspor.

Puk, 33, is out of contract this summer with Norwich, who play in the English Championship.

Norwich announced at the beginning of April that Puki will leave the club.

– This was not an easy decision because of what Norwich means to me. I have loved my time at this great club, but considering the stage of my career and knowing that I still have a few years left, I am willing for a new experience, Pukki stated in the press release.

Pukki moved to Norwich on a free transfer in the summer of 2018 and became a club legend in five years. Pukki scored a total of 88 goals in 204 matches in a Norwich shirt. He also led the club to the Premier League twice.

This season, Pukki scored 10 goals in the Championship.

– I still have 2-3 years left in football, so one more adventure somewhere. Then it’s my time to return home (to Finland), Pukki stated for the BBC in the beginning of May.

According to the Ajansspor website, Samsunspor would have made a contract offer to Cedric Bakambu as well. Bakambu, 31, has played in the Turkish premier league earlier in his career, as he represented Bursaspor in the 2014-2015 season.

Bakambu moved from there to the Spanish club Villareal. This season he represented the Greek side Olympiakos.

This season, Samsunspor won the championship of Turkey’s second highest league level and went directly to the country’s main league. The club last appeared in the main league in the 2011–2012 season. It plays its home matches in the port city of Samsun, which is located on the shores of the Black Sea. Samsun Stadium, the club’s home stadium, can hold over 33,000 spectators.
