Chef Teemu Laurell and entrepreneur Mirella Merivirta have divorced. Laurell tells about this In the Stories section of their Instagram account.
– Unfortunately, in life, not everything goes as you wish. In recent days, I have been asked about the state of my relationship. Our relationship has ended. The matter is private and I will not comment anymore, Laurell writes.
Laurell is asking for privacy, especially for her and the child of Merivirta. A common child of an ex-couple was born in July.
Merivirta has not commented or confirmed the difference in public.
This is how the relationship progressed
The relationship between Laurell and Merivirta was reported in September 2024, when the duo stepped together in front of the media on the red carpet of the Miss Finland competition.
“The guy makes the blackest in the world’s happiest woman and the exciting adventure of life, which is wonderful,” Mirella wrote on Instagram.
– I remember the feeling when I met this type for the first time. I thought that Wau, here’s something special. We went to play miniature golf, which is not my strength, not really.
Merivirta admitted to Iltalehti that she really lost her miniature golf, but that day in early June began a relationship. The couple kept the relationship for a long time as their own information.
– We were in a love bubble, we didn’t post anything about the relationship either. When we both received an invitation to the Miss Finland final, we found that we were going together.
The couple lived in the cohabitation of the fall when Laurell’s home was renovated and he moved to the sea. After the turn of the year, they are set to look for a new, common home.
In February 2025, the relationship deepened even more as the ex-couple began to expect a common child.

Laurell told Iltalehti about his moods about the upcoming life changes in the Kokkitota program.
– There have been quite a few positive things in recent years. The restaurants have been to me before, so it’s nice to get that real offspring soon, Laurell laughed.
Laurell was looking forward to the upcoming fatherhood. He hoped in the spring that he could be the best father for his future child. 40-year-old Laurell believed that now was just the time to become a father.
– I believe it is a good thing I will become a father at this point, it is enough for me. If I had done this at the age of 27, I would hardly be so good. I might have shared that over -generation of trauma, but now I have been able to cut it myself, he described.
– I have gone through myself and my affairs and have taken care of my own things in the background. I can give a good starting point for the child, Laurell describes.
At the end of September, the child of an ex-couple was named. Daughter bears the name Selelen Leona. Merivirta told Iltalehti that one of the name options was originally Cele. When Merivirta changed the name to the letter S, it was clear to him that it would become the name of their daughter.

Merivirta said they had spent christening at the Temple Square in Helsinki.
– It was a really touching opportunity for everyone. Everyone was sensitized there. Personally, I woke up when Selen started crying in her godfather’s arms that I started to squeeze the Bible in my hand, Merivirta described.
Merivirta said she wanted to organize the event bigger, while Laurell wanted a more subdued and intimate party.
– This was a good combo. There was a slightly more intimate opportunity in the church, but then a lot of friends were made for the follow -up party, Merivirta told Iltalehti in September.
