Mathieu Bayart, organizer Technoboost: “Technology is not magic. But we do want to show how it works and, above all, make people — and students — curious. Encourage them to work with technology and become interested in it. Take the city of Waregem, which is here with a gritter. Children just see it driving by in the street in the winter, but have no idea what’s behind it. Here they can discover it up close. And that makes it just as much fun.”
Six islands
There are six islands in total: electricity, construction, metal, food, plastic and textiles. The students each receive a 20-minute workshop. Aline Kerkhove: “I’m knitting here. That’s how it is done to make T-shirts, but on a larger scale. It’s fun. It’s very relaxing.”
