Are the Pittsburgh Steelers a quarterback? In any case! Are the Pittsburgh Steelers a quarterback in the first round? Please don’t! How it could work for the Steelers shows you andrafted in a special team Mock Draft.

In a mock draft you usually look at the entire first round – or even several rounds. But in this case we only look at a team. Today the Pittsburgh Steelers are on the program. The Aaron Rodgers team! Or not? The waiting is only tiring, but I am firmly convinced that Rodgers will land in Pittsburgh at the end of the day. The Draft Week would offer itself to sign the contract.

But even if he does not – for whatever reason -, in my opinion it will not completely change the draft plans. If Rodgers don’t come, Mike Tomlin would have no problems going with Mason Rudolph as a starter. Pittsburgh could also win ten games with Mason Rudolph. Behind Rudolph you could possibly get Carson Wentz into the squad, and a rookie QB would act as number three.

But: This rookie should not be pulled in round one. Yes, Shedeur Sanders is not uninteresting, should he actually be available in position 21. But even then I don’t believe that the Steelers Sanders are pouring, especially since they just don’t have a second -round pick and cannot afford it. To do without a potential star defender for Sanders would be absurd.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the QB plan

The quarterback plan is actually completely clear: ideally attack with a motivated Rodgers and land the next franchise quarters at home in Pittsburgh next year. The Draft class 2026 looks promising and General Manager Omar Khan will have enough picks as ammunition in your pocket to trade up for the desired QB of the future.

Rather, the really exciting question this year is whether you will trade back in round one in order to potentially get the two -round pick that you had to hand over in the trade for DK Metcalf. Usually the Steelers are not a team that likes to trade back, but this year it should not be excluded. The big problem could be that nobody wants to get up.

In a scenario that I played through, it was possible to pull an explosive running back (treveyon Henderson) in round two and to pull an extremely talented receiver (Jaylin Noel) in round three. A quarterback (Tyler Shough or Jalen Milroe) would of course be conceivable on day two.

But: In my team Mock I put it in such a way that the Steelers will not thread a trade, but everything stays in terms of picks as it looks now.

NFL Team Mock Draft: Pittsburgh Steelers

Round 1 – 21. Pick: Derrick Harmon – Dt, Oregon

The Steelers want to be the Eagles – trenches, trenches, trenches! After Pittsburgh has invested in the offensive line in round one in the past two years, the defensive line is now on. The draft class was available, it is by far the largest need: any other position would shock me completely if either Kenneth Grant from Michigan or Derrick Harmon from Oregon are still available.

I am almost sure that Grant will be gone when it is the turn of the Steelers, so the choice falls on Harmon here. It would be an absolute dream pick for the Steelers for me. Harmon could form the duo of the future with Keeanu Benton in the D-Line of the Steelers, but also help immediately and learn on the side of the still incredible cam Heyward.

The picture only makes the picture more perfect that Harmon leaned his game to Heyward and he personally reminds me of Stephon Tuitt. Heyward, Benton, Harmon Plus Watt, Highsmith and Herbig as Edge Rusher – Watch Out!

Round 3 – 83. Pick: RJ Harvey – RB, UCF

It is completely clear that the Steelers will be a running back as a supplement to Jaylen Warren (and Kenneth Gainwell). But who will be? The RB class is so damn good and deep that the choice is really difficult. Cam Skattebo screams for a Steelers running back, the Damien Martinez does the same. Anyone who sees their highlights must immediately remember that the guy belongs to a Pittsburgh jersey.

That’s why I actually wanted to take Martinez, but the Steelers showed surprisingly little interest in him. Of course that doesn’t have to mean anything, but then I chose Harvey and against Martinez and DJ Giddens. Harvey fits the Steelers perfectly with its speed and its inside zone strengths.

Pittsburgh is planning with Warren as RB1. Harvey could be the second option you are looking for, which is always good for an explosive touchdown run – that’s exactly what the Steelers want.

Round 4 – 123. Pick: Will Howard – QB, Ohio State

There he is finally the quarterback for the Steelers! I would set a considerable amount that round three or four will be the spot for the QB pick. And if I have to commit to who the Steelers would like to have in this range, then on the one hand I end up with Quinn Ewers (the Steelers love it more than the rest …) and on the other hand at Will Howard.

The fact that the Steelers like him and even performed for dinner is an open secret. Howard is definitely interesting because he is now underestimated after a not so convincing combine performance. In any case, his outstanding touch with Downfield passes would go very well with the Steelers. Would be really a good fit for Arthur Smith.

Round 5 – 156. Pick: Isaac Teslaa – WR, Arkansas

I don’t think the Steelers George Pickens will trade, unless the offer would be so good that you cannot repay it. I also believe that after his epidemic year, Roman Wilson will show what he can do as a rookie in the new season. But the Steelers will eventually want to get a receiver again in the draft, even if it will be rather late. My choice here falls on Teslaa, which, with its size, good hands and his athletics, has an interesting profile. And: he has special team experience, always important for the Steelers.

Round 6 – 185. Pick: RJ Mickens – S, Clemson

The Steelers cornerback room is so full that I don’t expect you to get a corner, but I can very well imagine a safety at this point. Mickens is the son of the former NFL cornerback Ray Mickens – and the Steelers love the Bloodlines! Mickens is also versatile, can play in the box or deep and could immediately help in the special teams. Fits!

Round 7 – 229. Pick: Jalen Travis – OT, Iowa State

OT slipped far back in the Prio list. The Steelers have by no means given up Broderick Jones and hope that the change to the LT position will cause a leap in development. Troy Fautanu will be really good and with Calvin Anderson the swing tackle is already in the squad. But: pulling another young tackle at the end of the draft can never hurt.

Travis played on the left and right in college. He still needs time, but he would have the potential to fight the swing-tackle spot with Anderson and maybe develop into a starter option if Jones turn out to be a real bust.
