Bas G. (45), who taught at a primary school in Vlijmen for twenty years, will spend eight years in prison and will also receive a TBS with compulsory treatment. The court in Den Bosch ruled this on Wednesday. The teacher had online sexual contacts with at least seventy children. The man had no fewer than 439 young children in his Snapchat account. He approached young children with sexual intentions and took nude photos of them and made videos.
He had contact with a young girl for three years. After he told her all about his secret life, she filed a report. He had some kind of relationship with her from the age of twelve to fifteen. They spoke daily, had sex online and also met three times and had sex.
During the hearing two weeks ago, the officer very much blamed Master Bas for not taking the feelings of young children, sometimes as young as seven years old, into account, especially as a teacher. As a teacher he should have known that. He has abused his profession for his own lust.
Thousands of photos and videos
Master Bas started photographing children as early as 2004. Chatting and video calling were added later. Police found thousands of photos and videos on his computer and phone.
According to the public prosecutor, Bas G. went further in his obsession with contact with children. According to her, the eleven children he abused online are just the tip of the iceberg. Of the seventy children of whom videos or photos were taken, not everyone has been recognized.
G. appeared very friendly and sympathetic online. And once contact was made, he quickly moved on to sexually explicit conversations. He was often very forceful towards children between the ages of seven and thirteen. He started: ‘Shall we go? camming and be nice and naughty?’ and then his requests quickly became more concrete and sexual.
Child molester ‘Jeroentje 47’
Bas G. led a double life for years, the officer said. As master Bas and as child molester Jeroentje 47 on the internet. He pretended to be a young boy and with each contact on Snapchat he wrote how old the child was and how old he supposedly was.
His ever-increasing obsession with sex with young girls and boys eventually became fatal. He confided in the young girl from Limburg with whom he had been in contact for three years and told her everything.
Children approached at a nude campsite
She eventually filed a report when she heard that Bas G. had been heard by the police when he had approached children at a nude campsite in Elsendorp during the May holidays. The owner of the campsite alerted the police. Bas G. immediately tried to wipe his PC at home, but that was only partially successful.
The police had now expanded the investigation when it became clear that Bas G. was a teacher. He was eventually arrested on August 29, 2022, just before the school year started again.
