Taylor Swift is once again providing superlatives. With her new album “The Life of a Showgirl,” the American pop superstar is making chart history – multiple times. The twelfth studio album, released on Friday, went straight to number 1 in the Official German Album Charts and, according to GfK, achieved the highest-grossing first week for an international solo act since data collection began 25 years ago. Even Adele’s “25” is pushed to second place.

Taylor Swift in the German charts: She also owns the single charts

Swift also clearly dominates the singles charts: “The Fate of Ophelia” debuts at number 1 and gives her the rare “double 1”. Eight more songs from “The Life of a Showgirl” made it into the German top 10 at the same time – a first in local chart history. On Spotify and Apple Music, Swift even took all twelve places in the top 12 on the day of release – something that no artist has ever achieved.

She is simply in “a league of her own”, her creativity and elegance are always inspiring and impressive and it is a great honor for us to be able to work with her. Our special thanks go to Taylor, her team, the Republic Collective, all partners and especially our entire UMI and Universal Music Germany teams who went the absolute extra mile every day to make this success possible. “Taytay” shines in Berlin

A particular highlight is currently causing a stir in the capital. As part of the “Festival of Lights”, Taylor Swift shines on the Berlin television tower. She is the first musician ever to be projected onto the landmark at Alexanderplatz. With over 3.5 million visitors, the “Festival of Lights” is one of the city’s largest cultural events. From October 8th to 15th, 2025, the television tower will be the meeting point for Swifties from all over the world every evening between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. The light show, which features motifs from the artwork of “The Life of a Showgirl,” transforms Alexanderplatz into a glowing homage to perhaps the greatest pop star of our time.
