Taylor Booth hurts FC Volendam with hat trick against brother Zach

The brotherly quarrel between Zach Booth (FC Volendam) and Taylor Booth (FC Utrecht) was won by the latter. In the Galgenwaard the home team won 4-2 The New Orange. Taylor Booth scored a hat-trick for the home side.

Volendam knew in advance that FC Utrecht had a tough time. Although the Domstedelingen are in fourteenth place, they have been unbeaten for eleven games. The visitors also had to do without the injured Brian Plat and Xavier Mbuyamba. Axel Guessand, who is on loan from Udinese, made his debut and Zach Booth replaced Lequincio Zeefuik, who had moved to AZ.

After the gunpowder fumes had settled, FC Volendam immediately had its back against the wall. Within three minutes the home team immediately had two big chances. Oscar Fraulo shot wide via a Volendam defender and Nick Viergever headed narrowly wide from a cross from Othman Boussaid. Yet the first chance for FC Volendam was a hit. Zach Booth scored after a corner kick got stuck in the goal area: 0-1.

Volendam got the Galgenwaard pretty quiet and then had things in good order. They had to be vigilant, because Utrecht had some pretty big opportunities through Sam Lammers and Jens Toornstra. However, goalkeeper Mio Backhaus saved in both cases. It was therefore not surprising that FC Utrecht came alongside. Taylor Booth, the brother of Volendam player Zach Booth, left Backhaus without a chance with a precise slide into the corner: 1-1. Just before half time, Volendam had to take another hit, as Viergever headed in the 2-1 for FC Utrecht.

Identical situation

After the break the playing pattern was the same. FC Utrecht pressed and FC Volendam defended. Just like in the first half, they scored after nine minutes in the second half. Josh Flint, who replaced Guessand in the first half, made it 2-2 from a corner kick. FC Volendam could not enjoy the equalizer for long, because Booth made it 3-2 three minutes later with a ball behind the supporting leg after a good combination. During the second half, Utrecht remained the better side and failed to finish.

Simons, on the other hand, opted for one halfway through the second half all-or-nothing tactics by bringing in Vivaldo Semedo and Quincy Hoeve. As a result, Volendam suddenly found itself with four attackers on the field. The game wavered up and down, but the Eel farmers failed to achieve a result. Five minutes before the end, Taylor Booth ended the game. The midfielder made the 4-2 and thus his third goal of the afternoon.

Due to the defeat, Volendam remains stuck in the penultimate place in the Premier League. Next week, leader PSV will visit the fishing village on Sunday afternoon.
