Tax authorities estimated fraud risk ‘regularly’ based on appearance or nationality

The risk of fraud was estimated “with some regularity” at the Tax Authorities between 2014 and 2019 on the basis of “personal characteristics such as nationality or appearance”. This is the conclusion of accountants firm PwC after an investigation into black lists at the tax authorities. The researchers speak of “dozens” of examples that they found in the investigation into a controversial fraud system used by the tax authorities.
