Around 2 p.m. something went wrong with the truck near the Badhoevedorp junction. It is not clear exactly how the accident could happen. But the truck ended up perpendicular to the right half of the A9 towards Amstelveen.
The tank of the car tipped over, which according to a police spokesperson was ‘full of sunflower oil’. Despite the blow, the tank remained intact. It is not clear exactly how the driver of the truck is doing. According to the spokesperson, ‘he was still in the cabin when the police arrived on the scene’.
Traffic jam or detour
According to Rijkswaterstaat, the recovery of the truck will take ‘until the early evening’. Until then, only the leftmost lane is open to traffic, and drivers should expect about twenty minutes of delays there. Traffic that wants to take the A4 from Haarlem towards Amsterdam or Schiphol will be diverted with signs via the A5 towards Hoofddorp.
