Tanja Jess was secretly filmed by an anonymous person while she was eating in public. “I eat really terribly ugly,” says the actress. “What are you going to do with that food video?”
Nowadays she is a real C-star, but Tanja Jess was once very famous, namely for her role in Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden. The fame that brought with it was truly horrible, the actress said Weekend. “Your freedom is greatly limited if the paparazzi are constantly at your door. That’s just not fun.”
Screaming at Tanja
People act very strange, especially outside Amsterdam, says Tanja. “Sometimes I didn’t go outside or I avoided certain places. Outside of Amsterdam I couldn’t walk normally on the street without people running after me, screaming, or taking pictures. We even booked holidays to places where no Dutch people came.”
“Now it’s actually even worse, because everyone always has a phone with a camera with them. If you are now known in the Netherlands, you have nowhere to go if something goes wrong, you will be captured immediately. That seems terrible to me.”
Eating video
What’s the worst thing Tanja has ever experienced? Being filmed in a restaurant. “When you’re eating. Then you think: what now? What are you going to do with that food video? Are you going to watch it again at home during the Easter celebration with the whole family? Believe me, I eat really ugly food. I just binge, haha!”
“In this case I was skimping, because I always eat too quickly. Sorry, I know, it’s not healthy, but it just happens. Suddenly I see that someone is filming while I’m eating that food at breakneck speed.”
‘Shit!’
Tanja found it really annoying to be filmed at that moment. “Those are those moments when you think: shit, maybe I should pay more attention. But hey, at the end of the day you’re only human. And you learn to ignore everything a little.”
“That’s actually a good life lesson: just don’t care about what others think.”
