Despite the contract: FC Bayern gives talent

Nestory Irankunda came to the German record champion shortly after his 18th birthday. Now he is leaving the Munich team again – but this time permanently.
After less than a year, the chapter FC Bayern Munich has already ended for Nestory Irankunda. The 19-year-old winger changes to the English second division club FC Watford-although his contract with the German record champions would actually have run until 2028.
The Australian international was signed by Bayern in November 2023, but only officially came to Munich from Adelaide after his 18th birthday in July 2024. In the regional league, he scored four goals in 15 missions, and was awarded to the Grasshoppers Zurich for the second half of the season. Irankunda did not receive an assignment at Bayern professionals during this time.
Jochen Sauer, director of young talent and campus, said: “Nestory has shown his great potential with our amateurs and then in Zurich again and again at GC. With his athletics and speed, he is made for football on the island.” One is convinced that he finds the best prerequisites in Watford to permanently prevail in European club football.
