Takko achieves a 79 percent increase in sales in the first quarter

The Telgte-based textile discounter Takko Fashion started the 2022/23 financial year with a leap in sales. In the first quarter, sales reached 242 million euros and were thus 79 percent above the level of the same period last year, which “was heavily influenced by pandemic-related lockdowns in Europe,” the company announced on Wednesday.

Despite a “challenging market environment”, sales only just missed the corresponding pre-crisis level: “The start to the first quarter proved to be challenging due to tense consumer sentiment combined with prolonged cold weather,” explained Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Kurt Rosen in a Message. “Nevertheless, with a difference of only four percentage points compared to the first quarter of 2019/2020, we were almost able to achieve sales at the pre-pandemic level again.”

CEO Tjeerd Jegen emphasized that although the retailer has recently registered lower footfall, it has been able to increase sales per purchase: “Our fashion range and value for money convince our customers. This is evidenced by the increased average number of items per receipt and the increase in orders in our online shop,” he explained.
