Tadic helps Ajax with two goals and an assist past Sparta

Dusan Tadic was the big man at Ajax today. The captain was involved in three of the team’s four goals. Partly because of this, it became 4-0 in the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Compared to Union Berlin, Ajax had changed in one place. Calvin Bassey took the bench again, while Davy Klaassen started. The midfielder was also responsible for the first goal. A cross from his foot was worked by Dusan Tadic behind Nick Olij: 1-0. The Spartans became dangerous in the counter-punch through Koki Saito and Tobias Lauritsen.

In the remaining part of the first half it was mainly Ajax that struck the clock. Mohammed Kudus, for example, headed on the crossbar from close range, before Kenneth Taylor made it 2-0. He hit hard from a Tadic cross. Steven Bergwijn became dangerous twice in the final phase without hitting a goal.

After halftime Ajax got a penalty. Bergwijn was floored in the sixteen-meter area, after which the VAR was awarded a penalty. Tadic then scored his second goal of the afternoon: 3-0. That was his 100th goal as an Ajax player. The hunger of the team from Amsterdam was not satisfied yet, as they diligently went in search of the 4-0. Kudus found Olij on his way and substitute Brian Brobbey also lost.

It was Kudus, who eventually scored Ajax’s fourth goal. That was the real decision in the game. After that, victory was no longer in danger. With the three-pointer, Ajax takes over second place from AZ, which lost to Feyenoord yesterday. Vitesse is the next opponent next week.

Setup Ajax: Rulli; Rensch, Timber, Álvarez (Bassey/70), Wijndal (Hato/78); Taylor (Grillitsch/86), Berghuis (Conceicao/78), Klaassen; Kudus, Tadic, Bergwijn (Brobbey/70)
