Lin Yun-Ju is the winner of the WTT Champions tournament in Frankfurt.
The 22-year-old from Taiwan beat the 13-year-old veteran Ma Long from China with 4:1 (7:11, 11:7, 13:11, 12:10, 12:10) sets on Sunday (November 5th, 2023). Lin Yun-Ju converted his second match point after 58 minutes and said afterwards: “I know that I always have to show my best game against Ma Long because he is the greatest of all time.”
The two Asians fought a sometimes spectacular duel in Frankfurt with long rallies and very few mistakes. It was the Taiwanese’s third win on the WTT tour this year and his second against Ma Long. For his victory, Lin Yun-Ju, who competes in the Champions League as Dimitrij Ovtcharov’s teammate for TTC Neu-Ulm, will receive prize money of $30,000.
Wang Yidi secured the women’s title in an all-Chinese final with a clear 4-0 (11:3,13:11,12:10,13:11) against her compatriot Wang Manyu.
