According to the Syrian Ministry of the Interior, 71 people were arrested in 61 searches. Explosives and weapons have also been seized.
Al-Sharaa will visit the White House on Monday. In the run-up to this, the United States removed the Syrian interim president from the terror list on Friday. Al-Sharaa was on this list because he led a jihadist movement in the past.
Since Al-Sharaa ousted dictator Bashar al-Assad last year, he has been trying to remove himself and his country from international isolation. He also wants to strengthen ties with the Americans.
Sources reported on Thursday that the US is preparing to send troops to Syria as part of a security pact.
