Sylvinho to lead Albania to Euro 2024 – Zabaleta assists

Significant bonuses beckon

After the contract of national coach Edoardo Reja expired after three and a half years at the end of 2022, the Albanian association presented a well-known successor. Sylvinho, ex-professional of FC Barcelona and Manchester City, takes over the office. Alongside Doriva, he will be joined by another big name in former Argentina international Pablo Zabaleta.

Sylvinho last worked for Corinthians São Paulo from May 2021 to February 2022 and was previously on the sidelines at Olympique Lyon and as an assistant at the “Seleção”. The contracts of the new coaching team run for 18 months with the major goal of qualifying for the 2024 European Championships in Germany. Should that goal be met, the trio would reap significant rewards. In group E of the European Championship qualifier, Albania meets Poland, the Czech Republic, the Faroe Islands and Moldova.
