Inflation in Switzerland surprisingly increased in July and remains in the positive area.
The inflation rate increased to 0.2 percent, as the Federal Statistics Office (BFS) announced on Monday. In June, the inflation was 0.1 percent and analyst: on average, an unchanged annual rate had expected on average. In May, inflation in Switzerland slipped into the negative area with minus 0.1 percent at short notice.
Compared to the previous month, prices remained stable in July. In this consideration, analyst was expected: 0.2 percent in the inside.
Inflation is still clearly higher for domestic goods. Here, consumer prices in July were 0.8 percent higher compared to the same month of the previous year. At the same time, the annual taxation for import goods was still clearly negative with minus 1.4 percent. Meanwhile, the core inflation was 0.8 percent in July.
In contrast, the prices for package tours abroad and domestically have dropped as well as those for air traffic. The prices also dropped for clothing and shoes that were reduced as part of the sale.
