Inflation in Switzerland continued to drop at the beginning of the year. In January, the inflation rate was 0.4 percent, after 0.6 percent in December, as the Federal Statistics Office (BFS) announced on Thursday. Inflation was less recently less than four years ago.
Expert was expected to decline inflation. Domestic goods are still significantly more expensive than a year ago (+1.0 percent), while import goods (-1.5 percent) are still clearer than a year ago.
Inflation in Switzerland has been withdrawing for months. It has been below 1 percent again since last September, and the last time over 2 percent was in spring 2023.
Prices for clothing and shoes decrease thanks to the sale
Compared to the previous month, consumer prices in January fell slightly. The so -called state index of consumers: internal prices (LIK) fell by 0.1 percent. According to the Federal Office, this decline is due to various factors, including the sunken prices for electricity.
The prices in air traffic and those for clothing and shoes that were reduced as part of the sale also decreased. In contrast, according to the information, prices in the hotel industry have increased, as well as rents of private transport and the premiums for car insurance.
