Swimming World Cup: Wellbrock leads the open water squad

Olympic champion Florian Wellbrock leads the squad of German open water swimmers at the World Championships in Budapest. The German Swimming Association (DSV) announced the nine-man team for the long-distance competitions on Friday.

In addition to Wellbrock, who secured the gold medal over 10 kilometers at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Ben Langner, Oliver Klemet, Niklas Frach and Andreas Waschburger will be at the start for the men. Lea Boy, Jeannette Spiwoks, Elea Linka and Leonie Beck are used for the women.

The World Championships will take place in the Hungarian capital from June 18th to July 3rd. In the open water competitions, 5, 10 and 25 kilometers as well as a 4×1.5 kilometer relay will be swum.
