A deer took a dip this morning in the Drentsche Hoofdvaart near Meppel. The animal then no longer managed to get to dry.

The fire brigade managed to get the deer out of the water after a few attempts. The animal was then taken into the fire truck and released a little further on in the wild.

It is not the first time that the fire brigade in Drenthe has taken a deer out of the water. Last Friday a similar rescue campaign was carried out in Hoogeveen.
