THEThe consumption of sugary drinks is responsible for 2.2 million new cases of type 2 diabetes and 1.2 million cardiovascular diseases every year in the world. The research, based on the analysis of global data and published on the pages of the magazine Nature Medicinehighlights a particularly serious impact in low and medium income countries where the percentage of new cases attributable to these drinks exceeds 20%.
The global impact of sugary drinks
The scientists of the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. By analyzing the consumption of sugary drinks in 184 countries and using data on almost 3 million people, the research showed that the Risk is higher between men, young people and those who live in the city.
