Many of Tre Kronor’s players are amazed at their teammate Marcus Johansson’s hard use of snus.
Sniffing is not at all exceptional in Sweden, but the 34-year-old Minnesota Wild striker has taken the job quite a bit.
– When you are not eating or sleeping, the snus must be on your lips, says national team mate Leo Carlsson says Johansson.
According to Carlsson, Johansson favors bulking, not snus bags. He scratches the substance in his mouth with his fingers.
Carlsson estimates that as many as 70-80 % of the Swedish team plays snus. He belongs to the same group himself.
“Everyone who uses are hooked,” he admits.
– It’s a thing. And probably a little Swedish thing.

Mikael Backlund also announces Tre Kronor’s Captain Rasmus Andersson as a hard sniffer.
– Rasmus and I are teammates in the NHL, and he uses it all the time. There are really hooked players, Backlund says.
The use of the Swedish snus also became a topic of talk last year at the Czech World Championships, when superstar Erik Karlsson repeatedly asked the suppliers during the interviews.
Karlsson is even said to have played snus on the lips.
– I remember one interview in which Erik said he had been tackled and angry because he lost his snus in the middle of the game, Swedish journalist Hampus Kjellberg revealed a year ago.
