Sweden: Bundesliga quartet around Branimir Hrgota nominated for World Cup playoffs

World Cup playoffs against the Czech Republic

The Swedish national coach Janne Andersson announced his selection for the upcoming World Cup playoffs on Wednesday and nominated four players from the Bundesliga. In addition to Emil Forsberg (30) from RB Leipzig and Joakim Nilsson (28) from Arminia Bielefeld, Andreas Linde (28) and Branimir Hrgota (29) from Greuther Fürth are also part of the 25-man squad that meets the Czech Republic in the semifinals on March 24 . The “Tre Kronor” could reach the World Cup finals for the 13th time.

While Forsberg and Nilsson are regulars for Sweden, Linde is back in the squad after making his debut in 2017 and Hrgota has been called up for the first time in over seven years. The attacker has made three appearances for the national team so far. The most valuable player with a market value of 40 million euros is ex-Dortmunder Alexander Isak (22; Real Sociedad), who, like four other professionals, has a past in Germany. The most prominent name in the squad is Zlatan Ibrahimovic (40) from AC Milan.
