Swarovski exhibits Austrian crystal art in Shanghai

The Austrian crystal producer Swarovski celebrates creativity and its own history in a new exhibition.

The exhibition “Swarovski – Masters of Light from Vienna to Shanghai” opens its doors in September in the Chinese city that gives it its name. This exhibition is dedicated to the heritage of the brand, which ranges from its Austrian origins in the 19th century to its influence on culture today, Swarovski announced on Friday.

With a focus on three core aspects – Austrian heritage, cross-generational craftsmanship and connections to fashion and pop culture – the exhibition aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the development of Swarovski. However, a special focus is placed on the historical relevance of Swarovski, especially during the birth of haute couture, when the founder Daniel Swarovski introduced innovative crystal cuts and colors to the fashion designers.

Visitors will learn about Swarovski’s pivotal role in revolutionizing crystal cutting and coloring, which has resulted in a spectrum of over 300,000 crystal variations.

The exhibition “Swarovski – Masters of Light from Vienna to Shanghai” will take place from September 20th to October 9th at MoCA Shanghai.
