FOOTBALL – The title battle in the 3rd division B has taken a new turn. Where Actief from Eelde did very well by beating De Wilper Boys 5-0, it was the 1-3 victory of SVZ from Zeijen over leader Forward that helped the team of trainer Peter Slijer into a seat towards the last round.
Forward was on top for today, one point ahead of Actief and three points ahead of SVZ. Active did what it had to do against middle-class De Wilper Boys. With hits from Julius van der Hilst (2x), Ennio Jansen, Leon Buiter and Rick van de Vlis, the team from Eelde signed for a big win.
SVZ first seemed to renege in the title fight, after Forward took the lead via Matthijs Gerbranda just after the first whistle. Only in the second half did the team from Zeijen come back into the game. Avner Leidelmeyer equalized and Ryan Subaeswaran put his team ahead. Jochem Haverkate finished the caraway with the decisive 1-3.
In the new position, Actief has a two-point lead over Forward and SVZ. The title fight will be decided next week in a direct duel between Active and Forward. SVZ can also provide a stunt in the match against TLC, but the team from Zijen actually only has a theoretical chance of winning the title. The difference in goal difference will probably be too big to actually compete for the top prize.
