Meeting with the ex-coach: Werder believes in success

Werder Bremen travels to second-placed RB Leipzig with five games unbeaten in a row. Coach Horst Steffen meets his predecessor Ole Werner there.
Werder Bremen wants to continue his series of five games without defeat on Sunday when he meets former coach Ole Werner in Leipzig. “The goal is to continue exactly as before,” said Bremen coach Horst Steffen about the successful phase before the international break.
Steffen knows the challenge of being second in the Bundesliga table. “They’re doing really well,” said the Werder coach, who has particular respect for the Saxons’ fast players. He calls for ball losses to be avoided. “If you make fewer mistakes in the build-up, you have a good chance of winning the game,” emphasized Steffen.
Seeing Werner again makes the game special for many Bremen players. “It’s completely normal that something always remains with people who have worked together. But how much Ole Werner I don’t know that it’s still in each individual,” explained Werner’s successor on the Weser.
Steffen has not yet had any personal contact with his predecessor. “So far we don’t know each other personally,” he said, attesting to Werner Leipzig “great job”.
