Box champion Ottke reacts to accident in Mallorca

On Monday, Sven Ottke was hit by a car and seriously injured. Now the former boxing star gave an update to his health.

The former box champion Sven Ottke had a serious accident in Mallorca. The 58-year-old was hit by a car when he was traveling by bike. He suffered serious injuries.

As Ottke of the German Press Agency described, he wanted to switch to the left turn in Puigderròs in the south of the island in Puigderròs in the south of the island. He was apparently overlooked by a driver. Born in Berlin, the car “bumped away” him.

Ottke suffered a dual break of the shin in the accident. This had to be surgically supplied on Tuesday. His former coach Ulli Wegner had already given the “Bild” information about the health of his former protégé. “Sven Ottke is doing well according to the circumstances. I will visit him in the clinic on Wednesday,” he emphasized. According to Wegner, Ottke was “simply killed”. The week before the accident, Ottke and Wegner had been on the island together in a holiday club and offered training hours for vacationers.

Ottke resigned in 2004 as an unbeaten double world champion in the super middleweight. He had won all of his 34 fights during his professional career.
