Sven Mislintat is the new sports director at Fortuna Düsseldorf. On Monday, the club announced that sporting director Christian Weber had been released.

On Monday afternoon, Fortuna from Düsseldorf will introduce its new sports director Sven Mislintat. At midday, the second division team announced that sports director Christian Weber had been relieved of his duties.

Mislintat said about the step: “We want to break new ground in the sporting area and in squad planning and initiate a change of course in this difficult phase. The separation was a logical consequence for the new course in the sporting area.”

The new sports director then stated that the position of sports director would not be filled on a one-to-one basis “until further notice”. Weber has been sports director in Düsseldorf since 2022. He previously worked as a scout for the club from 2015 to 2022.

As an active player, Weber was also on the pitch for Fortuna. From 2009 to 2012 for the club’s first team and later again for the club’s second team and again for the professionals. Seven years ago, his sporting career ended and he continued at the scouting level.

Mislintat is also familiar with this position: Before the 53-year-old came to Düsseldorf, he was head of the scouting department at Borussia Dortmund (2024 to 2025) and also worked for BVB as technical director (2024 to 2025) and director of professional football and scout (2017). Mislintat already gained experience as a sports director at VfB Stuttgart from 2019 to 2022.
