Eintracht Braunschweig has made another important personnel decision for the upcoming second division season. The BTSV named a new captain on Friday.

The successor to Ermin Bičakčić as a team captain of Eintracht Braunschweig has been determined. Defensive player Sven Köhler will in future lead the second division club to the grass with the bandage on the arm. This was announced by BTSV on Friday afternoon. The coaching team made the choice in favor of Köhler in joint consultation.

Köhler is proud to be nominal as a leader in the future. “After last season, it is all the more important that we go through the season together and with a lot of cohesion. We have many new players, a new team of coaches and, last but not least, a younger squad,” he said. “Current times will come in the coming months, but we will also experience horny moments together.”

Goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann will act as his deputy. In addition to the two captains, Lino Tempelmann and Max Marie as well as the two new additions Lukas Frenkert and Mehmet Aydin also include the team council.

Head coach Heiner Backhaus sees the choice of the captain as a finger. “Köhli takes responsibility and has this confident broadcast that a captain needs. With this decision we also wanted to give him the signal that we see him as a leader,” he says.

When choosing the team council, it, however, emphasizes “that all areas of the cabin are covered.” So Max Marie stands for the young players who are supposed to grow into important functions. Frenkert and Aydin represent the block of the new in the team. At Tempelmann and Hoffmann, however, it is a “statement” to show how important they are for the team, said Backhaus.
