“It just annoys me so extremely”

Germany recently celebrated success at the SkiSprung World Cup, but afterwards there were vertebrae for the suits of the DSV athletes. An ex-star now expressed his frustration.
The former German ski jumping star Sven Hannawald has echoed up on the current chaos around the suits of the athletes and sharply criticized the FIS skiing association. “It is just sad how far it has come,” said the 2002 four -hill tour tour of the “Bild”. “The nations are insulting each other. That can’t be true. There is pure distrust in the circus. And why? Because those responsible have no clear line.”
Last summer, the regulations for the suits had actually been clearly defined. But at the World Cup, the Springer were allowed to register two more suits that had to be approved by the FIS – and, according to Hannawald, should not have received this approval.
“Someone sees this with six dioptries that there are now suits that should not be admitted-if you adhere to the rules from the beginning of the season,” said the 50-year-old, who also emphasized that everything was still fair at the beginning of the season. “Now it’s bird game.”
Hannawald was particularly irritated by the success of the Norwegian jumper Anna Odine Strøm and her compatriot Marius Lindvik. Strøm had got the gold medal with the mixed team, which Hannawald attributed to her outfit. “Give me this suit and even I jump again. I know that nothing can happen to me, it starts me,” he rumbled.
Similarly, he was annoyed by Lindvik, who secured gold from the normal hill. With the stricter regulations, this often did not even reach the second round. “And now he is world champion, with the same technique. It’s all like in a bad film,” said Hannawald, in his opinion Springer, who would have adapted their leap to narrower suits, would now simply be punished. The Olympic champion therefore chose drastic words: “It only annoys me so extreme. You are practically forced to cheat if you want to be there at the front. That is only frustrating.”
Nevertheless, he has hope that the FIS will find a solution to the current situation. “Otherwise we will have another fully chaos at the end of the Olympic Games next winter,” he predicted.
