The shock was great in the Netherlands last month when the Suzan & Freek duo announced after three sold -out concerts in the Ziggo Dome that he has metastatic lung cancer. They got the news on Monday, Tuesday it was out in the open. Why? Because they gave even three concerts in the Ziggo Dome the following weekend. They are canceled.

‘I am so happy’

Suzan & Freek indicated that they wanted to spend the rest of his life together, but at one point he managed to see the light again and he still wanted to go on stage again. Although they had canceled those Ziggo concerts, their performances were still in the agenda during the current festival summer. How is that possible? By Suzan.

Freek actually wanted to put a line through it, he unveiled at Concert at Sea yesterday. He thanked Suzan on stage to immediately ask management after his cancer diagnosis not to cancel all summer concerts. “I am so happy that she made the choice, because I was not ready for that at the time.”

Beautiful place

Suzan knows that Freek would regret it if a line went through those concerts. “I was sure that Freek was going to wake up one morning and the podium went on again. If everything is canceled, we would have to see on TV that someone else is in this nice place. We can’t handle that.”

That’s right, Freek agrees. “We don’t know what tomorrow, we don’t know, you don’t know either. We don’t want to sit at home and wait for it to go a little less. We want to pick up life, celebrate life and make something beautiful out of it every day. This is what we get from energy here today.”

Not backstage

Suzan & Freek did not await his backstage by camera crews. Reporter Thom Goderie tells in Shownieuws: “Normally we can always film some backstage at Concert at Sea, but this year they were very strict in it, because they really wanted to give Suzan & Freek a little bit before they went on stage., Which I really understand.”

“What I thought was very beautiful: the performance was on it and Freek said,” Concert at Sea, see you next year! “, And that was a great deal of course …”

It is not yet clear whether Suzan & Freek has canceled their role as new duo coach in The Voice of Holland.
