Part of the channel in Assen and surrounding streets were dropped off this afternoon after magnetic fishermen have removed a suspicious object from the water. According to a police spokesperson, it was possible a grenade, but the police now exclude that.
“It is not an explosive, but just for a piece of metal,” said the police spokesperson.
After the report, agents and enforcers set the area well with ribbons. Shortly thereafter, a team of Explosives Exploration (TEV) arrived to investigate the object. The explosives explorer of the police subsequently engaged the Explosives Clearance Service Defense (EOD). In the afternoon the EOD investigated the object. This now shows that it is a piece of metal.
