Surprising win for Cathy Hummels

What a hearty statement! On Wednesday evening, the “German TV Award 2022” was presented in the MMC television studios in Cologne.

Among the award winners were top stars of the industry such as Iris Berben (72, received the honorary award) and Joko Winterscheidt (43, awarded in the category “Best Entertainment Show” for “Who steals the show from me”).

The surprise of the evening: Cathy Hummels (34) can also go home with a trophy. The RTL2 show “Kampf der Realitystars”, which she moderated, was honored as the best reality entertainment show of the year.

The influencer had apparently least expected that. Noticeably touched, she accepts the glass trophy on stage in the presence of the production team – and dedicates it to what is probably the most important (little) man in her life in a short, touching speech.

“Ludwig, this prize is for you because you had to do without your mother so much. I love you so much!”

The Munich resident then explained the personal words to her son (4) in the BILD interview: “I’m really proud, that’s why I dedicated the prize to Ludwig.”

During the award ceremony, she had “a little shaky knees”. “You could tell, we’re completely overwhelmed because none of us really expected it. I never thought we’d be nominated at all, but Battle of the Reality Stars is a work of art.”

And the award was a blow to many critics, who still smile at Cathy Hummels as an ex-player and see it less as an aspiring TV face. “The moment of truth will come,” said the influencer smugly to BILD. “I’m just happy.”

Is this the start of a serious TV career? “I really like moderating. We’ll see what comes in the future.”
